About Happy in the Dirt

Hi, I'm Melissa!

I’m a small-scale dahlia and cut flower grower based in Richfield, Minnesota. I’ve been gardening since 2004, and my love for plants spans it all—vegetables, shade gardens, pollinator-friendly blooms, and especially cut flowers.

At Happy in the Dirt, I focus on growing beautiful flowers using sustainable, pollinator-friendly practices. That means no synthetic pesticides, companion planting, and organic fertilizers.

Several years ago, I fell in love with dahlias—and my collection just keeps growing! I cultivate them for stunning bouquets, to show at Minnesota Dahlia Society events, and to share with others who love flowers as much as I do.

I offer dahlia tubers, cut flower plant starts, fresh bouquets, and wholesale flowers by the stem—available for local delivery or pickup during the growing season.

Have questions about dahlias or gardening? I’m always happy to talk plants!
